Dr. Gabriel Diaconu is a psychiatrist with nearly 15 years of clinical experience in private practice, leading a psychiatry and psychotherapy clinic in Romania.
He serves as Honorary Advisor to the Minister of Health and is a member of national commissions on psychiatry and addictions, contributing to the development of mental health reform policies and strategies at a governmental level.
His work includes involvement in shaping national responses to addiction, coordinating health efforts during the Ukrainian refugee crisis, and supporting medical evacuation and treatment initiatives for civilians affected by conflict zones. Internationally, his career has been closely connected to mental health in crisis and conflict areas, with a focus on trauma, suicide prevention, and human rights. He has held leadership roles within the World Psychiatric Association, focusing on the consequences of torture and psychological abuse, and has contributed to projects alongside organizations such as UNICEF and European institutions.
With training across Romania, Canada, and Austria, and collaborations with institutions such as McGill University and the University of Vienna, Dr. Diaconu brings both clinical depth and policy-level perspective.
